Westfield Mt Gravatt is marking Diwali with an evening of Bollywood dancing, live drumming and fireworks on Friday, 6 November.
The free event runs from 5.30pm to 8.30pm at the centre’s Town Square dining precinct on Level 2. Expect Bollywood dance performances, dhol drummers, fire twirlers and a DJ, with a fireworks and laser display scheduled for the evening.
There’s face painting for kids from 5pm to 8pm, too, available free for Westfield members. The celebrations continue on Saturday, 7 November, with a Bollywood dance performance by Dance Masala students at Centre Court, near Starbucks, from 2pm.
Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is celebrated by communities around the world and marks themes of light, hope and new beginnings. The Westfield event offers a chance to experience some of the festival’s music and dance right here on Brisbane’s southside.
