Brisbane is getting its own Bavarian-style party this October, with Oktoberfest in the Gardens coming to the Brisbane Showgrounds for the first time.Taking over on Saturday, October 10, the one-day festival will run from 1pm to 9pm, with German beer, wine, cider and plenty of food on the menu. Think bratwurst, steins and all the things you’d expect from an Oktoberfest, but with a distinctly Brisbane twist.
And it’s not just about the drinks. The festival will have multiple stages of live music and DJs, roving performers, competitions, a sideshow alley and a silent disco. There’s also a Berghain-inspired Rave Cave for when the traditional oompah starts to feel a little too traditional.
Naturally, dressing up is encouraged, with lederhosen and dirndls very much welcome. VIP tickets are also available, with private bar access, dedicated seating and weather cover.
This year also marks the festival’s first time at the Brisbane Showgrounds, making it an easy one for a group day out. So grab your mates, practise your Prost! and prepare for a very German Saturday.
