Jamn’s Kitchen

What’s not to love about Thai food? Every year, loads of Aussies head to Thailand to soak up the sun and dive into the street food scene. But let’s be honest, not everyone can jump on a plane whenever the cravings hit. Thankfully, you don’t have to. Sometimes, the best Thai food is right under your nose.

Tucked away in a quiet Annerley shopping strip, Jamn’s Kitchen is easy to miss. There’s no flashy signage, no big welcome out front but that’s part of the charm. It feels like stumbling on a local secret, where the focus is on good, honest cooking that speaks for itself.

Inside, it’s relaxed, simple and unpretentious. A few tables, friendly staff and a short wait before dishes start arriving. Each one is plated with the kind of care you’d expect from a venue twice the size and ten times the foot traffic. It’s casual dining, but the presentation is superb.

The menu sticks to the classics, showcasing fresh ingredients and bold flavours. You’ll find favourites like Pad Thai, Pad See Ew and a Tom Yum Soup that’s rich and tangy, packed with real shellfish stock and fragrant herbs that make every spoonful sing.

The slow cooked curries are worth seeking out. The rich Massaman Beef is fall apart tender in creamy coconut and warm spices. The Salmon Choo Chee features succulent fillets in a zesty red curry lifted by lime leaves. The Yellow Curry with Soft Shell Crab brings crispy texture to a turmeric infused sauce that’s smooth and full of flavour.

To finish, the Coconut Pudding is a must. It’s silky, creamy and just the right balance of sweet and subtle.

Open for dinner during the week and from lunchtime on weekends, Jamn’s Kitchen is exactly the spot to hit when you’re after honest, hearty Thai food that feels like a home cooked feed.
