Yoko Dining

Twenty-Five Dollars and a River View

Yoko at Howard Smith Wharves has quietly put together one of the best lunch deals in Brisbane and honestly it feels a little like a secret worth keeping, except we’re telling everyone anyway.

For $25 on any weekday between noon and 3pm, you get a sashimi selection of tuna, ocean trout, kingfish and Sydney Rock oyster, tempura soft shell crab futomaki, chilled rye soba noodles with cucumber ponzu jelly, and agedashi tofu with tentsuyu sauce. Four things. Twenty-five dollars. Eaten with a view of the river if you time it right.

Bump it up to $35 and you’ll also arrive to a drink. Pick from a Yuzu Spritz, a Felons Crisp Lager, or a glass of Greca by Latta in riesling, rosé or red. A small upgrade that makes the whole thing feel a lot more like a proper occasion and a lot less like a lunch break.

Once you’re done, the river is right there. Howard Smith Wharves is one of those spots that makes a weekday feel a little looser than it should, and a slow stroll along the water after lunch is basically mandatory.

Weekdays only, noon to 3pm. You know what to do.
