You won’t see a sign for Yalbaroo. Just a quiet turn past Beaudesert, through cattle dotted fields and into the Cainbable Valley. It’s not far, just under 90 minutes from Brisbane, but by the time you hit the dirt track, city life feels a world away.
Nestled at the foot of Lamington National Park, Yalbaroo is a peaceful, slow paced farm stay with charm in spades. The centrepiece is an old timber red barn that’s been thoughtfully reimagined into a one bedroom retreat. Rustic from the outside, polished and warm within.

The landscape does most of the talking here. To the north, rolling green hills stretch out towards the ridge. To the south, Cainbable Creek winds just 60 metres from the verandah, its quiet current offering a natural rhythm to the day. You’ll wake to birdsong and fall asleep to the occasional crackle of the fire pit under stars.
Inside, the barn strikes a balance between simplicity and comfort. There’s a king bed (or twin singles if you need), a lounge area with a wet bar, air conditioning for summer and a long enclosed verandah that opens to uninterrupted views. If you’re feeling fancy, there’s even a breakfast servery that’s perfect for morning coffees, pancake flips or casually showing off to your mates.

And speaking of mates, you can bring a few. There’s space out the back for tents, campervans or a caravan or two. Plus a second firepit so you can all argue over who’s in charge of marshmallows. The main cabin is ideal for a couple, but if you’re rolling in with a crew, it still works (just BYO swags and stories).
Yalbaroo sits right near Cainbable Creek, so when you’re not stretched out on the deck, you can wander down for a splash and forget about your inbox for a while. The paddocks are home to a few friendly farm animals living their best life, adding to the laid back charm of the place. Oh, and yes, dogs are welcome. So are horses. Not a joke.

Beyond the property, the Scenic Rim is yours to explore with bushwalks in Lamington, farm gate trails, wineries, waterfalls and long scenic drives. But don’t be surprised if you don’t venture far. Yalbaroo has a way of keeping you still.
