UQ College

UQ College delivers English courses right on the leafy St Lucia campus, so you’re not tucked away in some side building—you’re in the thick of it. You can study English while soaking up campus life, grabbing coffee from Merlo and finding your favourite spot along the river.

Their programs are built to match your goals. The Integrated English (IE) course caters to various proficiency levels, enhancing both general and academic English skills. Depending on your entry point, the program spans 5 to 45 weeks, preparing you for further study, travel, or direct entry into UQ’s Foundation or Degree programs.

For those aiming to meet UQ’s English language requirements, the Bridging English (BE) program provides a direct pathway. With a minimum IELTS score of 5.0, students can enroll in this 10 to 30-week course, which focuses on developing proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Upon successful completion, students can progress to their chosen UQ program without additional English testing.

Classes run Monday to Friday, either in the morning or afternoon depending on your level and you’ll be surrounded by students aiming for everything from further study to career moves or simply better conversations. Outside the classroom, you’ve got the full UQ experience with 220 clubs, heaps of events, green space and a student scene that makes the whole experience feel less like school and more like a community.

If you want to study English in Brisbane and get a taste of campus life at one of Australia’s top unis, UQ College is an easy choice.
