If you’ve been in Kingaroy for more than five minutes and haven’t stopped at The Peanut Van, you’re doing it wrong. This little roadside icon has been serving up Australia’s favourite legume since the early ’60s and it’s basically a rite of passage for anyone visiting the peanut capital of the country.

From the outside, it’s humble, a small van parked up and ready to go, but step up to the counter and you’ll be hit with the smell of freshly roasted peanuts and more flavour choices than you thought possible. We’re talking classics like salted and honey roasted, all the way through to wasabi, chilli lime, maple bacon and even chocolate coated for the sweet tooths. There are also peanut butters, oils and snacks to take home, which is code for: grab a few extras because you’ll regret it if you don’t.

It’s the perfect pit stop between cellar doors, or just a snack run before heading back on the road. Pull up, fill a bag and munch your way through the South Burnett knowing you’ve ticked off one of Kingaroy’s most delicious traditions.
