Stan’s Lounge: A Taste of Old Hong Kong in the Heart of Brisbane

Hidden above Howard Smith Wharves, this intimate bar is serving up Cantonese bites, vintage spirits and vinyl vibes that linger well past midnight.

If you’ve ever wanted to slip away to old Hong Kong for the night without leaving Brisbane, Stan’s Lounge is just the ticket. Stan’s Lounge sits above Stanley at Howard Smith Wharves, a transformation of the restaurant’s upper level into a moody, luxurious bar that channels old world Hong Kong. The space is rich with jewel tones, antique mirrors, velvet curtains and brass accents. A vintage JBL sound system and curated vinyl collection set the tone for evenings that lean into both elegance and nostalgia.

The menu, crafted by executive chef Louis Tikaram, offers Cantonese inspired snacks designed to complement the drinks. Dishes include prawn toast topped with salmon roe and truffle mayo, XO sand crab cigars and steamed lobster dumplings with truffle and caviar. The cocktail list features modern twists on classics, such as the Dragon Margarita with dragonfruit and makrut lime and the Stan’s 75, a riff on the French 75 with gin, mandarin and Thai basil. For those seeking something unique, the bar offersn premium cocktails made with vintage spirits from the 60s and 70s.

The atmosphere is intimate, with plush seating and warm lighting. DJs spin vinyl records most nights, creating a relaxed yet sophisticated vibe. The staff are known for their attentive service, ensuring guests have a memorable experience.
