South Bank Parklands

Nestled along the Brisbane River, South Bank Parklands is a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists. This vibrant area offers a perfect mix of nature, culture, and entertainment, making it the ideal place for a relaxing day out or a family adventure. The park is home to the Streets Beach, a man-made lagoon where visitors can swim and cool off while enjoying the lush gardens and peaceful pathways surrounding the area.

For those interested in culture, South Bank is home to some of Brisbane’s best-known cultural institutions, including QPAC, GOMA, and the Queensland Museum, all within walking distance of each other. Whether you’re exploring modern art, enjoying a performance, or learning about the region’s history, there’s something for everyone. The parklands also offer a variety of dining options, from casual cafes to stylish restaurants, many with stunning views of the river and city skyline.

Originally an industrial area, South Bank underwent a major transformation after the 1988 World Expo. The success of the event led to plans to redevelop the site into a cultural and recreational hub. By 1992, the South Bank Parklands officially opened, featuring not only the iconic Streets Beach but also expansive green spaces and cultural venues that have since become a key part of Brisbane’s urban landscape. Today, it remains one of the city’s most popular spots to relax, explore, and enjoy all that Brisbane has to offer.
