sAme sAme Brisbane

If you’re after Thai food that sits firmly in the fine dining lane, sAme sAme delivers. This moody, polished spot in Fortitude Valley brings bold, flame fired flavours into a sharply designed space that feels both upscale and grounded.

Tucked into Fortitude Valley’s Ada Lane, sAme sAme delivers a refined take on Thai dining. The restaurant, from the team behind Longtime, blends traditional techniques with modern flair. Head Chef Arté Assavakavinvong leads the kitchen, using authentic ingredients cooked over coals and in searing hot woks to craft dishes that reflect the diversity of Thai cuisine.

The venue’s design, by Richards and Spence, complements its culinary approach. The open kitchen adds energy, while communal tables and window bench seats offer varied dining experiences.

Two dishes that truly stand out are Sa-Koo Sai Moo and Lon of Spanner Crab. Sa-Koo Sai Moo are Thai dumplings made from cassava and filled with caramelised pork and coriander. They arrive soft and slightly chewy, with rich sweet-savoury pork and a fresh hit of coriander in every bite. Lon of Spanner Crab pairs sweet crab meat with a creamy coconut relish and pops of finger lime. The bright citrus bursts through the coconut, lifting each mouthful.

The drinks list mirrors the menu’s precision. Cocktails highlight native ingredients and local twists. You might sip a gin blend that features lemon myrtle. The wine list runs global. Choose a crisp sauvignon blanc to temper the heat or a bold pinot noir to stand up to the smoke.
