Who says you need a plane ticket to get your Mediterranean fix? Bulimba’s Oxford Street is quietly stealing the show thanks to Medé, the new kid on the block that’s all about good vibes and seriously tasty food. Since opening in September 2024, it’s been quietly becoming the go to for locals who like their dining modern, their mood relaxed and their plates full of flavour.
Medé is all about the joy of sharing, with fresh, locally sourced dishes that’ll whisk your taste buds straight to the Med. There’s whipped hummus with crispy chickpeas and smoky chilli oil, lamb souvla with whipped feta and green mabooj and polpette, those melt in your mouth pork meatballs in rich tomato and fennel sugo. Larger plates bring the drama with line-caught Mooloolaba swordfish or a Moreton Bay bug risotto that’s basically summer in a bowl. And come Wednesday, it’s steak night, a 350g Black Onyx Rib Fillet with house-made sauces, fresh salad and bottomless frites. You heard that right. Bottomless. Frites.
Outside, the al fresco seating catches all the afternoon sun, making it perfect for lingering over a glass (or three) from their killer wine list. Local drops, European classics, a few rare finds, basically, if it’s worth drinking, they’ve got it. It’s no wonder they were named Australia Good Food Guide Readers’ Choice Winners for 2025.
