If you’re chasing that dive eat sleep repeat lifestyle, Manta Lodge & Scuba Centre is where it’s at. Smack bang on the beach at Point Lookout, this place is part hostel, part dive HQ. Dive, stay and train. It’s the only dive centre on the island and a certified SSI training centre, which means you can rock up as a total newbie or go full dive pro if that’s your thing. Manta Lodge & Scuba Centre has access to one of Australia’s premier underwater playgrounds, the Moreton Bay Marine Park, which includes the famous Manta Bommie, rated as a Top 10 Dive Site in Australia. Expect manta rays, turtles and grey nurse sharks depending on the season.
Back on land, the lodge is easy-going and social without being a full-blown party hostel. There’s a big kitchen, comfy shared spaces and hammocks out the back that pretty much demand a post-dive nap. You’re steps from Adder Rock so you can sneak in a sunrise swim before breakfast or wander down for sunset beers with sand still on your feet. It’s no-frills in the best way, and perfect if you want to spend less time fussing and more time underwater.
