Manly Boathouse

Sitting right on the edge of the bay, Manly Boathouse has become something of a landmark. It’s open, whitewashed and airy, with uninterrupted water views and a design that leans into its surroundings.

The space is divided into a few distinct areas. There’s the main restaurant, where bookings are essential and the menu leans towards coastal Australian. Seafood is a strong suit with grilled prawns, oysters, fish of the day done simply but there’s also well executed pasta, dry-aged steak and seasonal produce across the board. A full wine list backs it up, along with a sharp cocktail offering and beers on tap.

The Patio section caters to the casual crowd. It’s a walk-up window serving fish and chips, pastries, coffee, and scoops of gelato to locals and daytrippers heading to the beach or lingering along the jetty. There are tables right on the water and it’s not uncommon to spot kids running around barefoot with chips in hand while dogs laze underfoot.

Tucked off to the side are the Little Boathouses—five glass-fronted nooks right on the water. They’re private, bookable and built for small groups. Inside, it’s just you, the view, and whatever’s on the table. It’s a popular pick for birthdays, dates, or anyone who wants to eat oysters in peace while the tide rolls in.

Whether you’re popping in for a morning croissant or settling in for seafood and spritzes until dusk, this place knows how to make it feel like a holiday, even if you’re only half an hour from home.
