Main St. Provedore Might Just Be Tamborine Mountain’s Tastiest Secret.
Every town’s got one. That little local eatery you almost don’t want to tell people about because it’s just too good. On Tamborine Mountain, that’s Main St. Provedore.
By day, it’s all about buttery, golden pastries made fresh each morning and espresso strong enough to jolt you back to life. On weekend nights, it shifts gears into an intimate dinner spot, serving a seasonal five-course set menu to just sixteen guests.
Main St. Provedore is the passion project of fine dining chef turned mountain local, Brenden Schutz. His background in top kitchens is folded into a relaxed, country-style setting where the food speaks for itself. It’s all local produce, house made everything and an attention to detail you can taste in every damn bite.
The current winter dinner menu is already a standout, with plates like kingfish over coals with celeriac and yuzu, and duck paired with pickled mandarin and black sesame. As one diner put it, it’s like having dinner at a friend’s place, if your friend was a world class chef!
Lunchtime doesn’t disappoint either, thanks to a strong line up of deli sandwiches. Our favourites on the menu include the Reuben (made with pastrami, cheese, pickles, sauerkraut, mustard and Russian dressing), the Muffaletta (layered with mortadella, ham, salami, olives, capsicum and cheese) and the Jamon Baguette made with fresh tomato, Swiss, jamon, melted butter and sherry caramel (yes, that’s right, sherry caramel). Yum!
While we adore the made to order sangas, there’s more to love. The pastry cabinet is stocked with buttery croissants, glossy pain au chocolat, sweet and savoury danishes and cinnamon buns that usually vanish before mid-morning. Best enjoyed with a hot coffee from Allpress Espresso or a cuppa from Byron Bay Tea Company.
So, pack a scarf, head up the mountain and follow your nose to Main Street. Just don’t tell too many people. We want to be able to get a table next weekend!
