Little g

Some say bad pizza doesn’t exist. Clearly, they’ve never chewed through cardboard crust. Lucky for you, that’s not the case here.

Tucked into a quiet corner of Woolloongabba, Little g is the kind of neighbourhood joint people claim as their own. What does the ‘G’ stand for exactly? Gabba? Gluttony? No one really knows for sure, but with a menu like this it doesn’t matter.

Known for pushing flavour boundaries, Little g is bold about its choices. Fig and blue cheese on pizza? Tick. Chorizo and pineapple? Absolutely. Fruit on pizza? They’re proudly team yes. Red and white base pizzas headline the menu, with favourites like the margherita, hot salami, truffle mushroom, crispy potato and kale and smoked chorizo combos all getting a run.

Beyond pizza, there are rich house made pastas like 12-hour slow cooked beef ragu, local mushrooms and porcini in truffle sauce and a silky vodka sauce number.

Once you’ve locked in your pizza or pasta, add a side of fried chicken or smoky spiced corn riblets. Each piece is seasoned just enough to let the flavour come through. They’re smoky, juicy and satisfying. And don’t skip the winter spiced poached pear salad. It quietly steals the show.

The dining space seats up to 60 inside, with a modern moody fit out that leans into slate, copper and timber tones. It’s cool and stylish but still the kind of place where it’s perfectly acceptable to lick sauce off your fingers.

And if the ‘G’ really does stand for gluttony, well… that feels just about right.
