IPPIN

If you haven’t stumbled across IPPIN Japanese Dining yet, consider this your sign. Hidden upstairs in the Garden Pavilion at West Village, IPPIN has quietly become one of Brisbane’s standouts, racking up awards like back-to-back AGFG Chef Hats for 2024 and 2025, Wine List of the Year, and a spot as a finalist for Queensland’s Best Japanese and Best Asian Restaurant.

It’s not just accolades. The name “IPPIN” literally means “exceptional item” in Japanese and the dining experience lives up to it. The chefs bring decades of skill and thought to every dish. Ingredients are premium, seasonal and treated with deep respect for traditional techniques but served in a space that invites both intimacy and celebration.

The menu is packed with standouts worth lingering over from Tiradito Ceviche and Wagyu Beef Tataki to A4 Kagoshima Wagyu Aburi with foie gras, crunchy king prawns, robata-grilled duck breast and Glacier 51 Tooth-Fish marinated for days in miso. It’s the kind of line-up that makes you want to order one of everything and share it all around.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an IPPIN night without a little something to sip. The drinks list is just as refined, featuring carefully selected Japanese sake, cocktails with yuzu or umeshu, and a wine list shaped by a Master of Wine.
