Golden Avenue Ignites Brisbane City’s Dining Scene

From the team behind Agnes and sAme sAme comes a sprawling Middle Eastern-inspired restaurant and bar already turning heads in the heart of the city.

Golden Avenue has only just opened its doors on Edward Street, but it already feels like a game changer for Brisbane’s CBD. The newest project from hospitality heavyweights Anyday, the team behind Agnes, Biànca and sAme sAme, it’s a sprawling 500 square metre space that manages to feel both intimate and grand, thanks to J.AR Office’s design that layers brutalist bones with pink granite, lush tiling, greenery and skylights that flood the dining room with light.

At night, the space glows, moving effortlessly from airy and light to moody and golden, with music curated by Graz Mulcahy to keep the atmosphere sharp but warm. The food, guided by executive chef Adam Wolfers and head chef Tim Yates under the creative direction of Ben Williamson, draws deeply on Middle Eastern and Levantine traditions, with fire and smoke at its core.

Bread is baked to order and arrives steaming from the oven, waiting to be torn, dipped and shared. Dishes like kibbeh nayyeh with urfa chilli and sheep curd, fried quail with chilli oil, carob molasses and za’atar, and swordfish shish spiced with hawaij show off the depth of flavour and generosity of the kitchen. Larger plates, like a 700-gram lamb shoulder mechoui, carry the drama of the fire straight to the table.

Even the desserts push beyond expectation, with baklava mille-feuille, pistachio mochi and syrup-soaked Lebanese doughnuts that keep the Middle Eastern thread running to the very end. Next door, GA bar gives the concept a sharper edge, pouring cocktails infused with saffron, rose, sumac and green chilli, backed up by a snack menu that makes it easy to stay late. For food lovers, Golden Avenue is already one of the most exciting openings of 2025 in Brisbane.
