Foxbar Falls Campground

Camping always clears the head and reconnects you with nature. Whether you’re pitching a swag under the stars or towing a caravan to a hidden gem, there’s something magic about cooking over a fire and waking to the dawn chorus. Certain spots feel like more than just a weekend away in the bush and Foxbar Falls is exactly that kind of place.

Tucked into Queensland’s Granite Belt, two and a half hours from Brisbane and just a short 15 minutes from Stanthorpe, the property combines granite landscapes, native bush and a working vegetable farm for a camping experience that’s anything but ordinary.

The property is divided into eight distinct areas, each tailored to different types of campers, such as sun lovers, shade seekers, dog owners, group travellers and everything from powered sites to off grid escapes.

Every campsite has its own fire pit and most allow communal campfires, with firewood available for purchase. Amenities include hot showers, toilets, laundry and potable water. There’s even free wifi at the office for when you really need to prove you’re roughing it.

By day, glide across the lake in your own kayak or canoe, cast a line from the shore or join the latest craze and take a brisk (some might say crazy) ice plunge in the lake to really wake yourself up. When it’s time to stretch your legs, explore the marked walking tracks that wind through native bush and past granite boulders. Keen hikers can tackle Mt Ferguson for sweeping views, while others can slow things down with a bit of bird watching along the walking tracks.

At night, gather under a sky full of stars, share stories around the fire and soak up the kind of peace that stays with you long after you’ve packed up.
