Cauldron Distillery

Crafted at 525 metres above sea level, Cauldron Distillery blends the best of the Scenic Rim.

When you’re plotting a weekend escape from Brisbane, Tamborine Mountain is always a bit of a no brainer. Just an hour from the city, it feels like a world away with cooler air, waterfalls, roadside stalls and a booming food and drink scene. And if you’re the kind of person who likes their weekends with a splash of gin, make a beeline for Cauldron Distillery.

Just down the road from the Gallery Walk, Cauldron Distillery is a working distillery and gin bar set on 18 acres of vineyard. There’s plenty of space to sprawl, with picnic tables tucked between the vines, open lawns for a rug and room for up to 200 guests.

The Five-To-Five gin range is what they’re best known for, crafted on-site in small batches using local botanicals. Flavours range from fresh and zesty to bold and floral. If you can’t decide, a gin paddle is the obvious move. You might even come across one of their seasonal limited editions or infused liqueurs, like citrus vodka or their Queensland Single Malt Whisky, known for its rich notes of vanilla, caramel and oak.

Weekdays are perfect for a quiet visit with a cheese board and a mate. On weekends, things pick up with live music and a menu that delivers way more than your standard bar snacks. We’re talking tacos, burgers, loaded fries and more.

And if you’re after more than just sipping, you’re in luck. You can roll up your sleeves at a gin making class and create your own custom blend, join a shorter guided gin blending session or take a behind the scenes tour to see exactly how their award-winning drops come to life.

So next time you’re plotting a mountain escape, point the GPS to Cauldron Distillery.
