Brisbane’s Matcha obsession is getting out of hand (in the best way)

Brisbane’s deep in its green era. We’re not talking kale or sustainability posters. This one’s been ground to a fine powder, whisked into frothy goodness and poured over ice. Matcha has gone from monk level calm to TikTok chaos and the city’s cafés are all in on the craze.

You’ve likely seen Lola’s Coffee Bar pop up on your feed and if not, it’s time to crawl out from under that rock. With two spots, one in Tarragindi and another in Kelvin Grove, Lola’s doubles down on the matcha hype. This Filipino café serves matcha in all sorts of flavours: ube, pandan, strawberry, mango… each one a twist on the classic green.

Down in Mount Gravatt, Sincerity Bake & Brew by Jacorey Cafe lives up to its name. The matcha mango cream latte is smooth, sweet and suspiciously addictive. There’s also matcha based desserts like strawberry matcha mochi, matcha ice cream and palmier top with matcha cream.

Wuta Cafe in the city centre is the matcha equivalent of that friend who always reads the label and knows where their coffee beans were born. They deal in ceremonial grade matcha and take it seriously. There’s matcha soft serve, there’s lattes so green they look like they’ve been filtered. Try their iced isuzu matcha with coconut water and you’ll thank us later!

Bean A While in Dutton Park isn’t screaming matcha from the rooftops, but they’re still part of the scene. It’s the kind of place that quietly nails the basics, keeps the vibe low key and probably knows your order before you do. Their blueberry matcha latte is earthy, sweet and surprisingly balanced.

Whether you’re deep in the matcha life or just flirting with the green stuff, Brisbane’s got a cup for it. Smooth, bold and way less chaotic than your inbox.
