The City Is the Canvas
Every May, Brisbane hands its walls over to artists and the results are genuinely worth going out of your way for. The Brisbane Street Art Festival returns from May 2 to 17, transforming Hamilton and surrounding neighbourhoods into something that feels less like a festival and more like a city slowly waking up to itself.
The free event brings together local and international street artists for large-scale murals, live art battles, and installations, with guided cycling tours and workshops woven through the program for anyone who wants to go a little deeper than just looking. Watching a wall go from blank to extraordinary in real time is a particular kind of pleasure that doesn’t get old.
It’s the sort of thing you can wander through on a Saturday with no real plan and come home feeling like you saw something worth remembering.
