Boo’s Kitchen

Winter’s here and so is the craving for something warm, bold and nourishing. Thai food ticks every box. Among the city’s favourites, Boo’s Kitchen brings something special—standing out with an experience far beyond the usual.

At the heart of Boo’s Kitchen is chef-owner Bussakorn, affectionately known as Boo, who brings the flavours of her Isan childhood straight to Brisbane. Raised in Puvieng, Thailand, Boo crafts a menu that is both deeply personal and authentically northeastern Thai, filled with regional specialties rarely found elsewhere.

From the vibrant décor to the storytelling woven through each dish, Boo’s Kitchen is more than a restaurant—it’s an extension of Boo’s journey. The menu reads like a culinary memoir, where every plate comes with a personal note or childhood memory, creating a connection between diner and chef unlike any other.

Every meal at Boo’s Kitchen starts with a burst of flavour, Whether it’s the house-made Duck Spring Rolls, the crispy Salt & Pepper Calamari, or the indulgent Crab Net Rolls—deep-fried parcels with crab and prawn. Then, there’s the ever-tempting Chicken Skewers, with Boo’s signature peanut (Satay) sauce, adding richness to every bite.

Beyond the appetizers, the menu highlights Boo’s personal favourites, the dishes she loves to share with friends and family. The Som Tam (papaya salad) comes in both Thai and Isan styles, while the traditional Isan Style Platter brings together authentic flavours in a beautifully curated spread. For something truly decadent, the Black Angus Seua Rong Hai (Crying Tiger) delivers bold, grilled perfection. And, of course, no Isan feast is complete without Sticky Rice, just as it would be served at home in Thailand.

A popular dish with regulars and Seafood lovers is Boo’s variation of Southern Thai Yellow Crab Curry with Kanom Jeen (Thai Rice Noodles)—a fragrant, indulgent curry that transports you to Southern Thailand, where crab is a local specialty and bold flavours shine. Of course you can also dive into the Garlic Pepper Prawns or Soft Shell Crab with Yellow Curry, each balancing heat and depth.

For those craving Thai classics, the selection impresses with Beef Massaman, Green, Red, and Panang Curries, Drunken Noodles (Pad Ki Mao), traditional Pad Thai and Pad See Ew and Bangkok Chicken Noodles.

And then there’s Thai Pineapple Fried Rice, served inside a pineapple for authenticity, evoking warm beachside evenings and bustling Thai eateries. Plus, the chef’s must try special: Thai Duck Curry with lychee, pineapple and basil—a perfect fusion of sweet and spicy.

Alternatively, try something less familiar, with Isan salads for which the northern region is known for like Boo’s Duck Salad (made from a family recipe) and Isan sausages (especially handmade with a mixture of pork and herbs sliced and served with fresh cucumber, sticky rice and dipping sauce).

Boo’s daughters, Natasha and Issy, are also involved in the day to day running, adding to the warm, family run atmosphere. It’s this family touch, paired with authentic Isan flavours, that has earned Boo’s Kitchen consistent praise, inclusion in the Best of Queensland Experiences and multiple Australian Good Food Guide awards for Best Thai Restaurant in Brisbane.

For those seeking Thai cuisine that goes beyond the expected, Boo’s Kitchen offers something truly special—an invitation to experience the bold, rich flavours of Isan, served with heart and heritage. A must-visit for food
