Roughly 250 km west of Bundaberg, tucked deep within the sweeping expanse of Bonnie Doone Station, sits Bloodwood Cabin, a quiet little pocket of calm set on a 20,000-acre organic cattle property. It’s remote, raw in the best way and designed for people who want to go properly off grid without giving up comfort.

Built from recycled ironbark and blue gum milled on the farm, the cabin blends effortlessly into its surroundings. Everything runs off solar, there’s no WiFi and the views stretch for miles. Inside, it’s warm, simple and beautifully styled with a sunken bath overlooking the bush, a wood-burning stove and a plunge pool fashioned from an old cattle trough. It sleeps two, making it ideal for couples, quiet getaways or slow solo retreats.

The landscape here is as untouched as possible, with trees, pastures, native fauna and flora co existing alongside Bonnie Doone’s beautiful herd of cattle. Wallabies hop past at dawn, the birds take care of the soundtrack and the stillness does the rest.

You’ll arrive to a made bed, tea and coffee, local wine, fresh farm eggs and organic produce in the fridge. Walk the property, nap in the sun, soak in the bath and ease into the kind of quiet most of us have forgotten how to enjoy.
Bloodwood Cabin doesn’t try to be anything more than it is and that’s what makes it magic. Just you, nature and time to properly slow down.
